Backup is copying your data to another location. Disaster recovery is the complete plan to restore operations after catastrophic failure including tested procedures, recovery time objectives, and failover capabilities. We provide both: automated backups and documented disaster recovery processes.
We test recovery processes quarterly by actually restoring data to verify it works. Many businesses run backups for years without testing, then discover they're corrupt or incomplete when disaster strikes. Testing proves your backups are viable before you desperately need them.
RTO is how quickly you need systems restored after failure. Critical systems might need 4-hour RTOs, while less critical systems can tolerate 24-48 hours. We define RTOs for each system and architect backup solutions to meet them.
Both. We can restore individual files, folders, emails, or entire systems depending on what's needed. Accidentally deleted an important file last month? We can recover just that file from the appropriate backup without touching anything else.
Backups are stored in geographically separate Irish data centres from your primary systems. If your office floods, burns, or gets ransomwared, your backup data survives in a completely different location. We can also replicate to cloud storage for additional protection.
Retention depends on your requirements and compliance needs. Typical retention is daily backups for 30 days, weekly for 3 months, monthly for 1 year. Some regulated industries require longer retention which we configure as needed.
We maintain immutable backup copies that ransomware can't encrypt. We identify the last clean backup before infection, restore from that point, and get you operational again typically within 4-8 hours depending on data volume. You don't pay the ransom.
No. Microsoft 365 has limited retention (30-90 days typically) and isn't designed for long-term backup or disaster recovery. We provide proper backup of Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams data with longer retention and faster recovery than Microsoft provides.
